Queen of the Castle

I love how the Italian flag is fluttering in the breeze at the top of the castle. Forza Italia!

Buongiorno da Sirmione!

Hello from Sirmione!

I’m at Sirmione’s lakeside Scaliger Castle in the Lombardy region of Italy. Surrounded by water, this perfectly preserved fort is quite impressive.  The fortress was strategically built at the entrance of the southern part of Lake Garda peninsula for defense & protection against enemies during the Roman era. The colorful shops, restaurants, hotels and villas around the castle create a cute little Italian village giving you local lifestyle feel.

I wouldn’t mind being Queen of the Scaliger Castle haha. For those of you who enjoy BollyWood Movies, this fine medieval fortification reminds me of the ones in the Bajrao Mastani movie with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Just a thought!

Even after all these years, the castle’s walls, corner towers and port are in great shape.

Until next time,

Evelina

          1. That’s why Europe has always appealed to me. I like old things, they are built better and stronger, they last longer. They are pleasing to look at. They all fit in well with each other, creating an affect you can’t really see anywhere else.
